So the wife and I were talking...

..about our daughters and the need to eventually educate them in some fashion. The wife was adamant that the local public schools were simply unacceptable. Now I'm thinking to myself, "we live in a relatively pleasant suburb of Los Angeles, not some inner city ghetto. I mean really, how bad could the local schools be?".

Then I saw this:
I'm guessing they don't have a lot of National Merit Scholars.

Hmmm--we pretty much ARE in the poor neighborhood of a rich suburb (average home price on our street is upwards of 700k). Maybe you are saying we should have known this would be the end result of moving to the poor neighborhood of the rich suburb? *sigh*

ps. Unfortunately we can't afford even the poor neighborhoods of the richer suburbs that have good public schools. *double sigh* I really should have become a public school teacher--then it would be doable.

Cass - If you lived in Houston, you could afford to live in teh nice neighborhood of the rich suburb - and still retain your slacker hubby as a financial parasite....but the schools would still suck.
